Weekly Youth Yoga at the SAME TIME as adult yoga!
Daily Youth Yoga is our goal - currently, we offer 2 yoga classes a week for ages 3-12 years. If your child is a “pre-teen” or teenager, we have options for them too. Please reach out to us as we have more information offline. If you can drive yourself to yoga, your child can attend without an adult - you will need to sign a waiver first. We can email this to you for your convenience - let us know at anuratiyogastudio@gmail.com.

No. You can utilize this youth yoga program like any other extra curricular activity. You can drop off or remain on site (or take a yoga class that is scheduled at the same time!) while your child is in yoga.

Currently, Dana, the studio owner will be hosting the Youth Yoga classes. She is a tenured Montessorian and consultant and still works full time in the field. She looks forward to weaving purposeful and realistic movement habits into the rest of your family's routine!

Not really. Some youth really prefer the boundary of a mat and others enjoy moving off of it with less distractions. We have everything you need for your child to be successful in class. Just show up!

No. All Youth yoga classes are scheduled during adult yoga class times. You can go to class or leave and come pick up your child ~5 minutes before scheduled end of class time.

Great - neither do a lot of adults that come to yoga. We are prepared for separation anxiety, redirection, and we have more than one way to participate in class. The Youth Room also has books, puzzles, art, games, etc. just in case!

Regularly, we take time to journal - meaning drawing or writing - certain poses that we are learning and going to be frequently discussing.
One sock, no socks. One block, no blocks.
More than yoga, we move around in many ways. This activity was originally set out to be an obstacle course, trying to walk certain lines with balance and then "putt" the disc into the chain basket. The students decided to instead, match all discs by color and then observe that the instructor did not place tape in each color of available discs. On their own, they added new lines. This activity went beyond anything we could "teach", as they CHOSE to work together, CHOSE to communicate, and CHOSE to solve a problem.
Yes, we use pencils and paper and yes the pencils change colors when you hold them. We also use clay to mold yoga poses and "make our own poses" and give them names. As a class, we practice each others' new poses to instill the concept of grace, courtesy, communication, listening, and overall practicing respect for others' ideas.
You may notice a change in your child's demeanor and physical movements after class. Just like a adults, yoga can make us feel super inspired to take on the day, or move convinced to melt into the couch when we get home. So, give your child the same amount of space you prefer after class to soak it all in.
We have a rotating selection of books themed in nature, animals, social emotional concepts, feelings, and of course children's yoga.
We all take savasana differently, but that's the main point - we all take it at the end of class, regardless. We encourage this in youth yoga and offer it as "rest at the end of class". The teacher usually offers to playfully "burrito" them into their blanket and all students are asked first if they would like an eye pillow. You'd be surprised how many choose one and more surprised on how many do not (this is the same for adults, too).
Our Youth Room provides a variety of ways to participate, we do not just have to do an hour of yoga movements to practice some elements Yoga. From balance, team skills, fine motor control building, gross motor muscle engagement or practicing silence - everything in the room is purposeful.
Eye pillows make great balance practice tools! Tip toe walking, high kicks, and "hands-free" drills are big favorites.
